Forget Cute Wings and Halos!

Raise your hand if you’ve ever been an Angel in your school or church nativity play.

Well – they are nothing like the cute 5 year old sucking on a corner of sleeve with a circle of tinsel wired above their head.

Every time an angel appears in the bible their first words are “Do not be afraid!” so it must have been a scary experience to witness their arrival.

Their purpose is to be messengers of God. In the Hebrew Scriptures (known as Old Testament in church), Angels were frightening and could sometimes mean destruction if you weren’t following God’s way. But when they appeared to the shepherds they had a very different message.

“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.”

Read about the angels appearing to the shepherds in Luke 2:8-20

Where in your life, would you like God to declare – Peace?

How do you think you grow in becoming a person on whom God’s favour rests?

A Prayer for you – May God make your Christmas holidays full of peace and the joy of knowing how glorious the birth of Jesus is.

Amen
