Cubs in Westbury-on-Trym

Cubs Logo

Cub Scouts meet to have fun, learn new skills, go on adventures with friends and make a difference in their communities.

The 167th Cub Pack meets on Monday evenings during term time. We welcome boys & girls aged between 8 & 10½. Focus is on fun, friends, activities that build towards badges and preparing for camps!

The Cubs’ section is the second section in the Scout Group following on from Beavers and leading up to Scouts. Cub packs first met in 1916 as the younger brothers of Scouts wanted in on the action. Cubs are members of the global family of Scouts.

Our programme of weekly term time Cub Pack Nights and regular Pack Camps prepare young people with skills for life. In amongst the fun and adventure they will gain a sense of achievement in the badges that they are awarded.

Cubs enjoy Día de los Muertos!
Cubs enjoyed taking part in the activities of a celebration or festival that usually takes place in another country – Part of the International Badge!

Cub Promise & Law

Cub activities are rooted in the values that we see in the promise and law:

Cub Promise

I promise that I will do my best
to do my duty to God and the King
To help other people
And to keep the Cub Scout Law

Alternative Cub Promises are available

Cub Law

Cub Scouts always do their best.
Think of others before themselves.
And to do a good turn every day

Parade Services

The 167th is a church-sponsored Scout Group so, if you are thinking about joining us, please do consider Church Parade Services.

We usually have about 5 parade services on Sundays each year. They are mostly at 10:30 at church. We also parade to the service at the War Memorial in Westbury Village on Remembrance Day.

Parade services are an important way of engaging with or observing Christian Spirituality and Worship in practice. They are one way that you can inform yourself about the Christian Faith. How can you make an informed choice to accept or reject the Christian message without finding out about it from practicing Christians! Attendance also counts towards a badge. Your family are very welcome to join us too.

We expect you to join us at Parade Services unless your parents have told us why you are not able to. We also hope that, since Parade Services are occasional, cubs will choose to forgo any weekly sporting activity for these few Sundays.

167th Cubs Code of Conduct

We asked the Cubs to make a list of expectations or rules for how we will behave when we are at Pack meetings – so that these sessions are fun and enjoyable for everyone. They thought about what behaviour is acceptable or not, what kind of consequences and rewards would help them. We turned this in to a Code of Conduct which we ask all new joiners to be willing to abide by.
